Rec Center Items

Just an update that I have this year's intramural champions t-shirt so we can use ti for whatever we need. I also got a bunch of pictures of privious winners that we can scan and use for our publications. And, I had interviews with two director staff members that run the intramural program as well as a student employee for the story on general intramural info and history at marquette. Things are taking shape! We really need to get a hard drive so we can compile our info and listen to those interviews to get started writing our other stories.

Web and Thursday class

Marino, you missed a fabulous class. We learned all about iWeb. We are pretty excited, now all we need is content. I think for the Web we should have a main home page and then a main page for each sport. We also need to really narrow our focus. We should meet during and maybe after class on thursday to make an outline for Web navigation and to decide what stories we are writing and who is doing each one. Time is going to go by really fast on this project, so we need to get a jump on content. Then we can focus on design and Web. FOCUS and ORGANIZE!!!

shakedown period

Lindsay & I covered water polo last night & flag football tonight. We switched off using my still camera and the video camera. Looking over the still photos, I'm pleased with the results. Lindsay - your efforts weren't half bad for an initial attempt. We have yet to review the video clips, which I'm especially interested in. I know nothing of proper filming techniques & have no idea how our footage will turn out.

We talked to a few players after the matches, and the iTalk is slick. I think we got some interesting & usable quotes as well. We got mug shots of a few people, but forgot to get them for others.

Now that we've covered a few initial events, we need to review the quality of the content we gathered and figure out how to improve.

PS - Congrats, Marino, on the utter domination in the pool...18-0 isn't too shabby.

Update

We are going tonight to cover our first intramural event...WATER POLO! should be great, and we get to test drive one of the backpacks! Also, I emailed lori about t-shirts, pics and a possible visit/interview. I will let you know when I hear back. We also started work in class on our print layout. We hope to add some actual content to it on Monday using the photos, etc. we get tonight. Marino also should have taken photos of the boards at the rec so we can have the team standings and make brackets for championships. I can't wait to experiment with some photo and video tonight!

Yea, teamwork!

We all went together to the Rec Center. (And we're going to send more than one person to cover most games.)

"Back to the Playground" is dead

The title pretty much says it. Upon seeing the intramural schedules at the Rec Center, we found out kickball ended back in early September. Oops...so much for basing our print product around that...Basically we need a theme over-haul. Any ideas?

10/9 update

-All three of us went to the Rec center to find game times, manager names and phone numbers. We figured out four or five games we plan to attend and cover.

-Somone needs to go back with a camera to shoot photos of that board, firstly so we can get records, names, numbers and times without having to write it all down, secondly in case we can use any of the images as art elements.
